Most of the Brandywine battlefield has been overrun by suburban residential developments between West Chester, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware.  The majority of the battle action took place south of modern day Street Road between U. S. Route 202 to the east and the Brandywine River to the west. The Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site sits on 46 acres of the former Continental Army encampment and offers many different programs and a self-guided driving tour. A museum and visitor center on a small portion of the preserved battlefield tell the stories of the fighting that took place there.
