Civil War Trust’s Programs

You are here

In addition to preserving Civil War battlefield land, the Civil War Trust conducts programs designed to inform the public about the events and consequences of the Civil War, foster an understanding of the need for preservation, and create a personal connection to the past.

Hallowed Ground Magazine

Our quarterly membership magazine includes articles from noted historians, preservation news and information on upcoming Trust events.

Civil War Education

Civil War Trust's Education group develops curricula, lesson plans, essay contests and other Civil War related educational resources for the teacher community and students nationwide.

Civil War Events

The Trust hosts, sponsors and participates in a number of Civil War events, including the Civil War Trust Annual Teacher Institute, education tours, conferences, reenactments and preservation marches.

Battle Apps

Let the Civil War Trust’s new Battle Apps explore battlefields with confidence. Our custom battlefield touring apps, with integrated maps and always-on GPS, ensure that you know exactly where you are on the battlefield.

Battlefield Interpretation

To help visitors learn from preserved battlefields, the Civil War Trust produces interpretative wayside signs, brochures, driving tours and animated maps.

Park Day

For more than a decade, volunteers gather at Civil War sites across the countries across the country for our annual clean-up day. Park Day is sponsored by The History Channel and Take Pride in America.
