For More Information
Meeting place
On the community's annual Patriot's Pride Day, students and instructors from the Sackets Harbor Central School provide cleanup on the state historic site grounds. A Volunteer Form must be completed for all volunteers participating. If a volunteer is under 18 yrs. of age an adult must authorize the volunteer agreement. Volunteers meet at the historic site navy yard, 504 West Main St., around noontime to begin. Cleanup involves raking, bagging leaves, or weeding gardens.
Planned Activities
Once volunteers arrive at the historic site they are deployed in small work groups with specific cleanup tasks at various locations on the site's 70 acres. Site maintenance staff and the school's adult leaders supervise student work teams.
History or Educational Activities
The site's exterior interpretive panels provide the story of Sackets Harbor in the War of 1812. Volunteers have the opportunity to read the panels during their cleanup activities.
