Meet in parking lot at Brinton Run Preserve at 10AM.
Planned Activities
Kick things off with:
- short walk and talk by local historian, Michael Harris, from parking area 10:15am promptly,
Followed by volunteer activities:
-Invasive species removal
-Securing and maintaining existing native plantings site wide
-General site/trail maintenance and trash pick-up site wide
History or Educational Activities
This site experienced troop movement and battle action as part of the September 11, 1777 Battle of Brandywine. North American Land Trust has invited local historian Michael Harris to conduct a walk and talk about the history of our specific preserve as part of the September 11, 1777 Battle of Brandywine. Michael will be available after the walk and talk, selling his most recent publications and engaging with the public.

“Michael C. Harris is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington and the American Military University. He has worked for the National Park Service in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Fort Mott State Park in New Jersey, and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission at Brandywine Battlefield. He conducted tours and staff rides of many of the east coast battlefields. Michael is certified in secondary education and currently teaches in the Philadelphia region. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, Michelle, and son, Nathanael. His first book, Brandywine, was awarded the The American Revolution Round Table of Richmond book award in 2014.”
