American Battlefield Trust Programs

In addition to preserving historic landscapes, the American Battlefield Trust conducts programs designed to inform the public about America’s first century conflicts and the consequences of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War. We seek to create a personal connection to the past and foster opportunities for individuals to experience battlefields first hand.

Special Events

The Trust hosts, sponsors and participates in a number of events and tours ranging from our Annual Conference and Grand Review for Color Bearers, to the National Teacher Institute and family-friendly Cadet Conferences and dynamic Generations tours.

Battlefield Interpretation

To help visitors learn from these sites, the American Battlefield Trust engages in both traditional and digital interpretative. From wayside signs and brochures, to animated maps and our GPS-enabled, multimedia Battle App (TM) guides, we help you explore history like never before.

Hallowed Ground Magazine

Our award-winning, quarterly membership magazine includes articles from noted historians, exciting preservation news and information about upcoming American Battlefield Trust events.

Classroom Resources

From continuing education credits to curricula and lesson plans, from research guides to scholarships and contests, our Education team offers a wide variety of resources for teachers and students.

Landscape Restoration and Upkeep

Whether it means removing modern buildings or replanting trees, we our Stewardship program seeks to return battlefields to their wartime appearance. For more than two decades, our Park Day program has connected historic sites with thousands of community-minded volunteers eager to help them shine.
