Within walking distance of the Lincoln homestead, the 1,747-acre Lincoln State Park features 10 miles of hiking trails through the region where Abraham Lincoln spent his youth. Among the Lincoln-era sites is the home of Col. William Jones, the merchant employer of young Abraham Lincoln. The Lincoln Amphitheatre, located in the park, offers a number of family- friendly, affordable events from spring until fall, including the signuature piece about President Lincolns Indiana boyhood years, " A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale."
