On April 13, 1866, the Secretary of War authorized immediate action to provide a final resting place for the honored dead killed in Civil War battles for control of the railroad in and around Corinth. This beautiful twenty-acre cemetery is the resting place for 1,793 known and 3,895 unknown Union soldiers.
