During the Battle of Gettysburg, 20-year-old Mary Virginia "Jennie" Wade and her mother stayed at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. Lewis McClellan, who had just given birth to her first child. While baking bread for the Union troops, a stray bullet passed through two doors striking and killing Jennie Wade. Jennie Wade became Gettysburg's heroine. The 1863 home is now a museum that tells the story and life of Jennie Wade.
