Stony Point Battlefield

One of the few major battles to take place in New York after Saratoga, Stony Point was a defeat for the British and ended their control of the Hudson River when General Anthony Wayne took Sir Henry Clinton's fortifications. Today, a portion of the original battlefield, where Clinton placed his earthworks and batteries, has been preserved as a New York State Park. In addition to an historic lighthouse from the early 19th century and memorial arch, the park also includes a museum dedicated to the battle located in the visitor center, and also hosts several educational programs like guided tours and historical reenactments, that can teach visitors about military and civilian life in Revolutionary America.
