Second Deep Bottom Battlefield

Located 11 miles southeast of Richmond, the August 14-16, 1864 Second Deep Bottom battlefield features heavily forested terrain, broken by cultivated farm fields, thus retaining much of its wartime character.  Much of this land along Darbytown Road is still in private hands.  The house and area around Fussell's Mill, scene of heavy fighting, has been preserved by the Richmond Battlefield Association.
