Peach Tree Creek Battlefield

Located in the heart of metropolitan Atlanta, nearly all the Peach Tree Creek battlefield has been lost to development. Georgia Historical Commission markers throughout the urban landscape point out key battle sites, and a few public parks preserve portions over which the Confederates advanced. Tanyard Creek Park near the center of the battlefield contains several memorial markers. The Atlanta History Center houses the famous Atlanta Cyclorama and the Western & Atlantic Railroad locomotive Texas. Visit the Smith Family Farm on the museum grounds, a rural plantation house built in the 1840s, with a smokehouse, slave gardens & costumed interpreters. Many notable Confederates are buried in Oakland Cemetery.
