Gaines' Mill Battlefield

Though significant portions of pristine battlefield land remain in private hands, the Richmond National Battlefield Park owns 60 acres of this large battlefield, the largest of the entire Seven Days Campaign, including the spot where John B. Hood's Confederates achieved a breakthrough in the Union line. The site is crisscrossed with walking trails and interpretive signs. The historic Watt House, centerpiece to the battlefield, still stands.
