Between 1775 and 1865, the United States of America fought three defining conflicts. The American Revolution (1775-1783) gave us our independence. The War of 1812 (1812-1815) secured that independence, giving notice to the monarchies of Europe that we would not allow interference in our affairs. The Civil War (1861-1865) decided just what kind of nation America would be. On this page you will find some of our best content organized into collections. Tour these groupings to learn more about the wars that defined America.
