Please note: This is a joint initiative between Texas Historical Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park, and Brownsville Historical Association. The event is free and open to the public. Bring sunscreen, work clothes, and a hat. Bottled water, light snacks, disposable gloves, and trash bags will be provided for free. For those who want double the battlefield fun, volunteers can meet at the nearby Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park at 9:00 AM. From 9:30 to 11:00 participants will learn about the connections between the Mexican American War and the Civil War and see living history demonstrations, including the firing of cannon and muskets.
