Please note: Ship Island Excursions is a commercial ferry service that is open to the public. We will have a limited number of seats available for this event, please plan accordingly. Volunteers for this event who have private boats are welcome to join us on the island but still require a registration for this event. If taking the Ferry service to West Ship Island West Ship Island is one of 6 barrier islands south of the cities of Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi. Typical April temperatures are mild with some humidity. It is imperative to bring sun screen, a hat and/or any other type of sun-protection. Depending on rain and standing water mosquitoes will be present on the island and bug protection is a strong recommendation. There is a small snack bar and concession stand on West Ship Island where snacks, light food and beverages other than water may be purchased. The travel time to West Ship Island from the Gulfport small craft harbor is approximately one hour. Please prepare accordingly for any and all possible weather as it can change very quickly. Outside of the historic fort there is very little shelter from the elements. Please contact Christopher directly to register.
