Join this site as a volunteer on Park Day 2018, the Civil War Trust’s annual hands-on event to help battlefields and historic sites take on maintenance projects large and small. Meeting place: Near the Clover Hill Tavern Guest

Meeting time: 2:30

Planned Activities: Other

Other Activities: Placing 4,600 luminaries out on the Lynchburg-Richmond Stage Road during the 153rd Anniversary.

Planned Low-Impact Activities: Putting lights in bags.

Bring Tools & Supplies: No

History or Educational Programs: All day long and a nice introduction as to why the Park is doing luminaries.

Food provided: Yes, water only

Please note: Appomattox Court House NHP is seeking help with the 153rd Anniversary, specifically in regards to our Luminary Event, on April 7, 2018. The lighting of 4,600 luminaries represents each emancipated person in Appomattox County as a result of the surrender on April 9, 1865. Use 111 National Park Drive, Appomattox, VA 24522 FOR GPS.
