Thank you to everyone who has shared their photos—we receive remarkable photo submissions year after year. Your collective passion for Civil War history and battlefield preservation has created some truly memorable images!
Let's keep the momentum going! In a new format, we will now be accepting photos of different themes and categories periodically throughout the year via our Facebook community photo contest »
Your Pet on a Battlefield Photo Contest
Photo Contest has closed.
Pets can be great companions to bring to battlefields. When rules permit them to be on the property, they can offer great encouragement on a hike, or camaraderie when exploring historical land. We want you to share your photos of your pets on battlefields!
Send a photo of your pets on a battlefield where they are allowed: a national, state or local park, or even preserved land owned by the Civil War Trust. Take a snapshot of you and your dog on a hike, standing with a historical marker, or taking in our nation’s history.
Feel free to include a caption to tell us which battlefield you are visiting, the names of your pets, or details about the photo! The contest isn't restricted only to Fido, and we are curious to see what other pets you might bring out on a leash!
You can return here to see submissions and to vote for your favorite images. At the end of the contest, we will announce two "people's choice" winners on social media and one “staff favorite” chosen from our team. All three winners will receive a Petmate® Collapsible Travel Dog Bowl!
All entries must be submitted by 11:59 a.m. ET on November 15, 2016. Select submissions might be displayed in a gallery or featured on our website, social media channels, or email. See Official Contest Rules »
