The Battle of First Deep Bottom with Bobby Krick

Historian Bobby Krick discusses the Battle of First Deep Bottom (July 27-29, 1864) and its historical significance to the 1864 Petersburg Campaign.  The Union push beyond their Deep Bottom bridgehead on the James River was designed to draw precious Confederate troops away from the Petersburg lines just before the Army of the Potomac ignited their powder-filled mine underneath the Confederate lines.
