Many employers, particulary larger companies, have formalized programs that will match charitable gifts made by their employees to eligible nonprofits. These mechanisms allow you to create your own version of the government matching grants that have enabled so many of the Civil War Trust's greatest successes.
How Matching Gifts Work
By taking full advantage of your employer’s matching gift program, you can dramatically increase your level of support without having to make an additional donation. Check with your company's human resources or accounting department to see if a matching gift program is in place, or if your workplace would consider starting one. Annual membership dues and gifts to specific battlefield appeals may be matched.
Usually, all that is required of you is to pick up a standard form from your employer, fill in some basic information, including the amount to be matched, and then send the form to the Trust along with your donation.
