Support Teacher Institute

Support our Teachers!

Now in its 20th year, the Civil War Trust’s National Teacher Institute has become the world’s best Civil War professional development conference. This free event provides K-12 educators from around the country with the tools they need to teach the Civil War in creative and engaging ways. Attendees walk Civil War battlefields with noted historians, get behind-the-scenes tours of museums, and—most importantly—connect with fellow educators to share strategies for tackling the unique challenges teachers face.

Thanks to our generous partners, teachers can attend the Institute free of charge. However, we have learned that a key source of funding will not be available this year. We need $20,000 to cover the cost of this year’s Institute in Richmond, Virginia. We need your help to give teachers the critical educational resources they need to provide their students with the enriching experience they deserve.

With increasingly strict education standards and shrinking school budgets, our nation’s history educators need our support more than ever. Help us give teachers the help they need by supporting the 2016 Teacher Institute.
