CANDLELIGHT
VIGIL TO SAVE CHANCELLORSVILLE BATTLEFIELD
(Spotsylvania
County, Va.) - The Coalition to Save Chancellorsville
Battlefield will be kicking off the new year by hosting a
candlelight vigil to express public support for preservation
of the Mullins Farm. Friends of the battlefield and opponents
of sprawl are encouraged to attend and hold a candle in memory
of the soldiers who fought and died at Chancellorsville 140
years ago this year.
Participants are
asked to gather at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14th at the
R. E. Holbert Memorial Building, 9104 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania,
Virginia. The event will coincide with a Spotsylvania County
Board of Supervisors meeting, making the vigil an excellent
opportunity to let county officials know the public continues
to oppose development of the battlefield.
Because of the
potential for inclement weather, refer to the Chancellorsville
Coalition website for changes in the event. Participants are
asked to dress for cold weather. Hot refreshments will be
served.
