Board of Supervisors hearing on Mullins Farm rezoning: On November 14, the Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors will consider a rezoning application for the southwestern portion of the former Mullins Farm – the site of the first day of the Battle of Chancellorsville.
The rezoning is based on an agreement with the Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) that will preserve 74 acres of core battlefield land west of Lick Run. In exchange for this opportunity, Toll Brothers (which currently has control of the property) will be allowed 33 additional houses just north of the battlefield park. CWPT considers this a "win-win" deal.
Friends of the battlefield are encouraged to attend the hearing to support this agreement that will help to accomplish the goal of preserving all of the core battlefield land along historic Route 3. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at at the R.E. Holbert Memorial Building, 9104 Courthouse Road, Spotsylvania, Virginia.
