Battlefield Coalitions

The Civil War Preservation Trust is a proud member of the following battlefield preservation coalitions:

Coalition to Save Chancellorsville Battlefield
The Coalition to Save Chancellorsville Battlefield is an informal coalition of 12 national and local groups dedicated to preserving and protecting Chancellorsville Battlefield. The Coalition was formed in July 2002.

Morris Island Coalition
The Morris Island Coalition is a broad coalition of preservation groups that have joined together to save historic Morris Island and the remains of Fort Wagner. The attack by the 54th Massachussetts (an African-American unit) on Fort Wagner inspired the 1990 film "Glory."

Glorieta Battlefield Coalition
The Glorieta Battlefield Coalition is a citizens' organization whose members include residents of Pecos, Glorieta, Santa Fe, and elsewhere in New Mexico and the Southwest. The purpose of the Coalition is to preserve and interpret the Battlefield as part of Pecos National Historical Park.

Manassas Bypass Coalition
CWPT is a member of this informal coalition that has formed to protect Manassas National Battlefield from the potential impact of a bypass around the battlefield. Friends of Manassas Battlefield maintains a website about the bypass controversy.
