Traveling Trunk
The CWPT Traveling Trunk program provides civil war “artifacts”, books and audiovisual materials for teachers to utilize in expanding and supplementing their existing Civil War curriculum. The traveling trunk helps students develop a greater interest in the American Civil War and in battlefield preservation by encouraging them to have a personal experience with era-appropriate materials.
Each trunk is rented for a five-day period. On average, the cost is $40. Further details are included on the rental request form.
Rental Procedure:
1. Request a trunk by filling out the rental request form.
2. CWPT will create a schedule based on the requests received. The shipping cost is determined using UPS online. You will receive an invoice before the trunk is shipped.
3. In addition to the trunk itself, each teacher receives a UPS shipping label. This label is used to ship the trunk to the next teacher on the route.
4. While you have the trunk utilize our lesson plans, curriculum, and other supporting materials.
5. Take pictures of your students using the trunk and send the pictures along with the image permission forms to CWPT.
