June 1st marks the end of our Best Lesson Plan and Student Essay Contests. There is still time to enter during this long weekend, if you have not yet had the opportunity. We are really looking forward to reading all of the entries.
From the EducatorsMay 2010 May is a very busy time for the Civil War Preservation Trust. Just two weeks ago we released our History Under Siege report, which provides a list our nation's most endangered battlefields. Next week we will hold our annual conference, which brings hundreds of our members and supporters together for four days of tours, lectures, and networking. Finally, with the coming end of the school year for many students and teachers it's time to wrap-up our classroom contests. However, this year we will be providing a summer contest for students: we have added a new High School category to the CWPT Photography Contest. Students ages 13-18 can now enter their battlefield photos into the Photography Contest, which runs during the summer months. Other categories include Civil War Battlefields, Then & Now, People on Battlefields, and a new People's Choice. What a great way to record your battlefield trips this summer! - Nicole Osier, Senior Manager, Education Programs |
