Civil War Trust

Gettysburg National Teacher Institute

July 25-28, 2013

This year, the Civil War Trust held its largest Teacher Institute yet in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, just three weeks after the sesquicentennial of the major battle. With over 177 educators representing 36 states and two countries, the four - day professional development opportunity offered K-12 educators new ways to present the Civil War in their classrooms. Teachers engaged in discussion groups, workshops with Civil War experts and top educators, battlefield tours with licensed guides and park rangers, and presentations from historians Wayne Motts, Hari Jones, and best-selling author Jeff Shaara.  Thank you to all the attendees whose passion and enthusiasm helped make this Institute such an overwhelming success!
