The Field Trip Fund
Apply for funding of Civil War Trips for your classroom
The Civil War Trust strongly believes that Civil War battlefields are outdoor classrooms — truly unique locations for education, commemoration, and contemplation. The Civil War Trust's Field Trip Fund provides funding and assistance to teachers who are planning field trips to Civil War battlefields or related historic sites.
How It Works:
1. Apply for funding by filling out a Field Trip Fund Application Form.
2. The Civil War Trust will review your application and respond with a proposal that could amount to full or partial sponsorship of your field trip.
3. Go on the field trip! Keep your receipts! When you come back, fill out a Field Trip Reimbursement Form and send it back to the Civil War Trust. Your reimbursement will arrive shortly thereafter.
Rules & Guidelines:
The following items can be covered by the Field Trip Fund: transportation, meals, admission fees, and presenter/guide fees.
The following items will NOT be covered by the Field Trip Fund: non-Civil War-related trips, luxury options, overnight lodging, and souvenir purchases.
Total funding will not exceed $1,500.00
The Field Trip Fund Application Form asks applicants to commit to maintaining an "enthusiasm equity," which is done by taking photographs, writing a short article about the trip, or participating in Park Day, among other options. Field trips will not be funded without such a commitment.
