Preservation, Abraham Lincoln
Civil War Preservation Trust Teacher Newsletter
Upon the subject of education, not presuming to dictate any plan or system respecting it, I can only say that I view it as the most important subject which we as a people may be engaged in.

On this last day of 2008, CWPT would like to thank you for all you do as educators. Your caring and dedication make a difference in our world, our nation, our communities ... and in our students' lives.
Civil War veterans came back to the battlefields to remember and reflect. When we preserve battlefields we show honor and respect to our ancestors. And when we visit a preserved battlefield, we are better able to learn from our ancestors' mistakes and achievements.
Education is the key to appreciation and empathy. Without these, battlefield preservation is impossible.
Have a very Happy New Year.
