Lee.  He had previously won fame at the Battle of Antietam, after which Stonewall Jackson remarked that "with a Pelham on each flank I could whip the world."  Pelham was killed in March of 1863 at the Battle of Kelly's Ford, robbing the Confederacy of one its most beloved heroes.  JEB Stuart named his next child in Pelham's honor.
