2016 Essay & Postcard Contest Winners

Post-1865: Effects of the War

The 2016 Essay Contest, co-sponsored by the Civil War Trust and HISTORY, encouraged students to discuss the theme: Post-1865: Effects of the War. Students were asked to think about the lingering legacy of the Civil War, about the emotions felt by both sides in those tumultuous times, and about the importance of preservation efforts in protecting the soldiers' memory. Students submitted their essays and competed for cash prices provided by HISTORY.

2016 Senior Essay Contest Winners
