The 2015 Essay Contest, co-sponsored by the Civil War Trust and HISTORY, encouraged students to discuss the theme: 1864-65: Bringing the War to a Close. Students were asked to think about the lingering legacy of the Civil War, about the emotions felt by both sides in those tumultuous times, and about the importance of preservation efforts in protecting the soldiers' memory. Students submitted their essays and competed for cash prizes provided by HISTORY.
