The 2013 Essay Contest, co-sponsored by the Civil War Trust and HISTORY, encouraged students to discuss the theme: Preserving 150 Years of History: 1862-1863, Shifting Tides. Students were asked to think about turning points of the American Civil War and the importance of preservation efforts in protecting its memory. Students submitted their essays and competed for cash prizes provided by HISTORY and a membership to the Civil War Trust.
