U.S. Grant Home State Historic Site

500 Bouthillier Street, Galena, IL 61036, USA

On August 18, 1865, citizens of Galena celebrated the return of Civil War hero Gen. Ulysses S. Grant by presenting him with this handsome home. The house is typical of the Italianate style and is furnished with many original items from the Grant family.
