Many of Texas' 11,500 historical markers are Civil War related. A high percentage of the historical marker files, which are located in the Texas Historical Commission Library, contain documented narratives supporting the historical significance of the subject matter of each marker.

Directions

From I-35 take the 15th Street exit in downtown Austin. Proceed west on 15th Street for approximately 0.5 mile and turn right onto Congress Avenue. Turn left onto Sixteenth Street to look for parking meters.

Visitor Services

Public rest rooms, information, the main floor and library handicapped accessible; files are hand delivered to the public.
