Stonewall Confederate Cemetery

305 East Boscawen Street, Winchester, VA 22601, USA

Dedicated in 1866, this cemetery contains the remains of over 2,000 Confederate soldiers killed in nearby battles. Some of the Civil War notables buried here are the Ashby brothers (Gen. Turner Ashby and Capt. Richard Ashby) and the Patton brothers (George and Tazewell Patton, grandfather and granduncle of World War II Gen. George Patton).  Stonewall Confederate Cemetery is part of Mount Hebron Cemetery and contains monuments erected by various states and individuals.

Directions

From I-81 take Route 7, which turns into Berryville Avenue. Turn left on Pleasant Valley Road and proceed 1 block. Follow the iron fence to the gatehouse entrance.

Visitor Services

A roster listing the Confederate burials is available from the office ($5.00).
