Robert Toombs House Historic Site

216 East Robert Toombs Avenue, Washington, GA 30673, USA

Home of Gen. Robert Augustus Toombs, a successful planter, lawyer, and outspoken Georgia politician, who used his influence to persuade the state to secede from the Union. As secretary of state of the Confederacy, general, and seasoned battle leader, he never took the oath of allegiance to the United States and died as an unreconstructed Rebel.
