Reed's Bridge Battlefield

Route 161, Jacksonville, AR, USA

This site, which includes seven acres on the banks of the Bayou Meto, is where Confederates stopped Union troops in August 1863 by burning the bridge. The escalated tensions from the battle led to a duel a week later between two Confederate commanders, Gen. Lucius M. Walker and Gen. John Sappington Marmaduke.
