Philippi Historic District

108 North Main Street, Philippi, WV 26416, USA

Phillipi, West Virginia, was the site of the first land battle of the Civil War on June 3, 1861. It was the site of the first amputation of the Civil War caused by enemy fire. Philippi is home to many historic sites, as well as a historical museum containing Civil War-era artifacts.

From I-79 take exit 115. Follow Route 20 south to Route 57 east and take U.S. Route 119 north to Philippi (22 miles from exit 115).
