Missouri State Capitol and State Museum

Missouri State Capitol, Jefferson City, MO 65101, USA

The capitol, built between 1913 and 1918, contains the legislative chambers and state offices. Flanking either side of the magnificent rotunda is the Missouri State Museum. The museum features several exhibits on the Civil War, including a diorama with an original cannon and a recreation of part of an artillery camp. The museum recently opened a large hands-on, interactive area for adults and children of all ages that focuses on the Civil War. The museum also has a collection of Missouri Civil War battle flags, some of which will be continuously on display through 2015. On May 10, 2011, the museum opened a large scale exhibit on the Civil War in Missouri. All of the Civil War displays will remain open through at least 2015. Other displays in the museum explore the state's history and natural resources.
