Massard Prairie Battlefield Park

Red Pine Drive & Morgans Way, Fort Smith, AR 72916, USA

On July 27, 1864, 800 Confederate cavalry troops attacked a corps of 200 Federal troops of the Sixth Kansas Cavalry. The battle lasted fifteen minutes, and 140 prisoners were taken. The Confederate forces included a number of Native American troops from the Choctaw, Cherokee, Seminole, Creek, and Chickasaw nations.

From I-540 take Zero Street east to Highway 45. Take Highway 45 to Geren Road, then to Morgan's Way. Turn right on Morgan's Way to Red Pine Drive; the park is on the right-hand side.
