Marks' Mills Battlefield State Park

Marks' Mills was one of four battles that defined the limits of Union Gen. Frederick Steele's foray into south Arkansas during the Red River campaign of 1864. Following the crushing Federal defeat, Steele abandoned Camden and retreated to Little Rock.

From I-30 at Malvern turn south on U.S. Highway 270. In Malvern take State Highway 9 south; 2 miles south of Princeton, take Highway 8 and continue through Fordyce to the site, near New Edinburg. This route traces a significant portion of Steele's retreat from Camden, going through Tulip and Princeton and passing just 13 miles southwest of the final battle of the campaign at Jenkin's Ferry.
