Marietta House Museum

5626 Bell Station Road, Glenn Dale, MD 20769, USA

Marietta is an 1813 Federal-style brick house built by Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Duvall (1752-1844). The furnishings of the house reflect his occupancy, but tours also discuss the political activities of his descendants during the Civil War. His grandsons Edmund and Marcus were Southern sympathizers; Edmund joined a local rifle company called the Buena Vista Grays and Marcus was detained in federal prison because he refused to pay his federal taxes as a political protest
