General Mansfield House

Gen. Joseph King Fenno Mansfield was a career soldier, graduating from West Point in 1822 and later serving in the Mexican War. He served the Union during the Civil War and was mortally wounded at the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, dying the next day. His home has been preserved as a museum and includes an exhibit of Civil War artifacts, photographs, and documents relating to Mansfield and other local soldiers.

Directions

From I-91 take exit 22 south onto Route 9. Take exit 15, turn left on Main Street. Travel 2 1/2 blocks, and the museum will be on the right-hand side.
