Fredericksburg Area Museum

1001 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, USA

This building was the headquarters for Confederate General William Barksdale. His men were the sharpshooters (Mississippi and Florida troops) who contested the Union engineers building the bridges into town. This building also housed a large hospital, as did many public buildings in town. The Museum houses an exhibit entitled "Fredericksburg at War" that focuses on the civilian experience during the war.
