Customs House

This local history museum offers exhibits on Cairo's pivotal role in the Civil War. These include artifacts from the USS Cairo, a gunboat built in the local shipyards, which was sunk by a Confederate torpedo in 1862 and raised in 1964.

From I-57 take exit 1 and proceed south on U.S. 51 to downtown Cairo. The Customs House is located on the east side of Washington Avenue.
