Andrew Johnson National Historic Site honors the life and work of the nation's 17th President and preserves his two homes, tailor shop, and grave site. Andrew Johnson's life exemplifies many struggles faced by Americans today. He worked his way from tailor to President. He stood strong for his ideals and beliefs. His presidency, from 1865 - 1869, illustrates the United States Constitution at work following Lincoln's assassination and during attempts to reunify a nation that had been torn apart by civil war. His work helped shape the future of the United States and his influence continues today.

From the South: go north on I-81; take Exit 23 to US 11E north into Greeneville. Turn right onto the Rt. 11E Business Loop. Continue straight all the way through town. Turn left on S. College St (1 block after Main Street). From the North: go south on I-81; take Exit 36 to Rt. 172 south into Greeneville. Turn right onto N. Main St, and then left onto E. Depot St. The Andrew Johnson Visitor Center is located on the corner of College and Depot Streets in historic downtown Greeneville, TN.
