141 Acres at Perryville: 94% of the Way There
A Message from Jim Lighthizer, Civil War Trust President
Dear Fellow Preservationist,
We're now Just $10,000 from our goal of saving 141 acres at Perryville!
In August of this year we reached out to you with a new opportunity to save 141 acres of the Perryville battlefield -- prime acres associated with the climatic Confederate attacks on the unsuspecting Union right. On October 8, 1862 the intense fighting around the Squire Bottom house left upwards of 500 dead and wounded on the very ground that we've been seeking to save.
The good news to share with you today is that we've raised $171,000 of the $181,250 that we need to save this hallowed ground. We're just $10,000 from our goal. I am reaching out to you today to ask for your help in reaching this important end goal. Help us put this 141 acre tract into the saved forever column.
To thank you for stepping up to this challenge with any level of financial support of $25 or more, I would like to send you our new "30,000 Acres Saved" t-shirt so that you can publicly show your support for our shared cause. I hope that you will accept this reminder of our shared commitment, wear it proudly and help spread the word!
