About the Author
Bob O’Neill is a retired Fairfax County, Virginia, police officer who now lives in Eureka, Montana. He has written Aldie, Middleburg and Upperville: Small But Important Riots, as well as numerous articles on the cavalry in the Civil War. He is completing a manuscript on the Union cavalry attached to the defenses of Washington. This article is the result of his continued research into the cavalry actions across Loudoun County in June 1863.
