Help Save First Deep Bottom & Glendale

Two years ago, not one acre of the First Deep Bottom battlefield was saved. Today, in a single acquisition, we have the chance to save nearly the entire battlefield and a significant portion of another. Watch the new First Deep Bottom video with Bobby Krick, see our new photo gallery, and learn how you can help save this 1864 battlefield.

From Our President

Jim Lighthizer Photo

December 2010
Dear Civil War Preservationist,

For the past twenty years we have been in a race with developers to save our Civil War battlefields before they are covered in concrete and sub-divisions. But every once in a while we get the chance to work with forward thinking developers in saving our hallowed battlefields. At the First Deep Bottom battlefield we are working with a local developer to rescue the remainder of the battlefield. What was once slated to be turned into block after block of residential homes will now, with your help, be preserved forever.

I also can't tell you how excited I am about hearing the news of our 4-Star award from Charity Navigator. This is the second straight year that we've been given this top award for excellence in the non-profit space. Every day we work hard to fulfill our mission. Every day we work hard to put as much of your donations to that great work. As such it's great to see others recognizing us for those efforts.

- Jim Lighthizer, CWPT President
