Save Franklin

The Civil War Trust is proud to announce a new campaign to save 5 acres of the Franklin battlefield -- acres that are closely associated with the Confederate attack upon the Federal eastern flank. Learn more about why it's important that we add these key acres to the saved column.

From Our President

September 2011
Dear Civil War Preservationist,

The 52 acres where Nathan Bedford Forrest "charged ‘em both ways" and the 5 bloody acres where the terrible drama of the Battle of Franklin unfolded are both battlefield preservation opportunities that I hope you will seriously consider supporting. At both of these Tennessee sites, the Civil War Trust has for years been working hard to save and reclaim these great battlefields.

And how many of you joined us for our 2011 Grand Review in Chattanooga, Tennessee? What a great event! Not only did I enjoy seeing all of you, but the battlefield tours of Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and Resaca were all excellent. If you didn't make it out, please consider joining the ranks of the Color Bearer Society so you can participate next year.

- Jim Lighthizer, Civil War Trust President
